Fooseball et. al.

I am not really a pro at Fooseball but thought I would better write one on this, having been so involved with this game now and liking it like ever. I find it more of a mental game, requiring to build pressure on the opponent through action and strategy (anyone seen the '100 girls'). And ofcourse physical skills are the key. Requiring heavy wrist-work, good hand-eye coordination, and a cool temperament, it is really fascinating playing this game.

I didn't knew long before that there were more than one versions of the game. I thought the 2-player a side was the only one. But then I discovered that there is even an 11-a side version. I find it hard to score in 2-a-side, 11-a-side is simply, wow!!! In fact a friend of mine even said, are they really able to score in this 11-a-side one???

But what I like more about it is that is a small and simple indoor game that doesn't require much to learn the game, except for a keep interest though. I never thought I could play it well with just three weeks in it but then, I really like playing it, something like a daily-chore kind of stuff. [ :) ]

Keep going guys, have a good time at Fooseball !!!

Fooseball... :)I am not as good as my friends Abhinav and Tarun (to tell the truth, they're quite charitable when they let me play on their side) but I love playing the game... fooseball after dinner seems to have become a daily ritual... all the hand-eye coordination and the fancy wrist work is beyond me...its just a way in which I let my hair down at the end of the day... no matter how tired I am, and how many pending assignments are hanging like albatrosses around my neck, fooseball seems to offer a small space of time when nothing else matters but the trajectory of the ball ... defending a goal, seems like a minor achievement... and all the laughter that goes with the game, lightens the heart...
The fooseball table is placed at quite a cental location at our hall... so I seem to have made loads of new friends just by hanging around and watching games in progress...cool way to get to know new people...
All I've got to say is: Fooseball Rocks!!! :)

perfect. a perfect description from someone who loves the game.
but then there is another point i thought i would put in here.
the game remains a game so long as u play for what u play as sara as written about. but when u try to become skilled n play as a professional league, it loses the charm that is associated in playing n it starts getting heavy.
it converts to a question of win or loss and u simply forget that u started playing becoz u loved playing n not becoz it was for the sake of winning, the every time u managed the handles...

yea... the quest to win steals the game of its charm... to quote an example here, an acquaintance who has been playing fooseball for years, and is held to be a champ...a great fooseballer with all the requisite skills, was pitted against me and tarun, mere novices before him... we were playing for the heck of it, and mr.friend was playing to win... but things seemed to go awry... he lost 3 games in a row on alternate sides... gone was the charm of the game... the poor guy went off shoving his hands through his hair, in complete frustation wondering how the cruel hands of fate had messed up his game... :D
the point here is that we had no hope of winning, we were aiming at restricting mr.friend and having our fun...we did better... so a game should be treated as just that... a game... a recreation not a be all, end all to hyperventilate over...

see thatz just the spirit tarun... we dint play to win... we played for pride then... the outcome was hilarious... i'd stick out my neck a little further and say it was a streak of good luck... and somebody was having a really bad day...
